Einhorn’s “Voices of Light / The Passion of Joan of Arc” - An Unforgettable Cinematic Experience

09.29.23

Mark your calendars for October 7th, as Pacific Chorale presents an awe-inspiring cinematic event: "Voices of Light / The Passion of Joan of Arc." This remarkable performance features Richard Einhorn's acclaimed 1994 oratorio, creatively synchronized with the legendary 1928 silent film masterpiece by director Carl Dreyer, "The Passion of Joan of Arc."

Einhorn's mesmerizing composition scored for orchestra, chorus, and soloists, weaves a haunting tapestry that complements Dreyer's restored cinematic marvel. Once believed lost, the film's single surviving print was fortuitously discovered in a Norwegian mental institution in 1981, and has since been digitally restored to its original brilliance. Based on actual 15th-century transcripts, the film vividly portrays St. Joan's trial for heresy and subsequent execution, revealing her courageous journey in the face of adversity during the Hundred Years' War.

Immerse yourself in the acclaimed performance, highlighted by Renée Maria Falconetti's exceptional portrayal of Joan of Arc, a role heralded by the late esteemed film critic Pauline Kael as one of the finest in cinematic history.

Don't miss this extraordinary evening of live performance that promises to be etched in your memory. Ticket prices start at $28. Secure your seats today for an evening that transcends the ordinary!

Tickets are available here.
